Synthesized: A Murderously Dark Comedy

Feature Film

Synthesized is a British dark comedy feature film written and directed by Chris Green, starring Thomas Turgoose. The 96-minute film follows an unassuming everyman whose obsession with 80s synthesizers and a taste for revenge sets him on a collision course with chaos, love, and murder.

THE SYNOPSIS
From the Synth Room to the Big Screen

Martyn is a computer repair man by day and a synthesizer obsessive by night - playing his electronic compositions to unappreciative crowds in pubs and working men's clubs, with little more than his Ford XR2 and his beloved gear for company. When his wife Valkyrie's betrayal sends his life into freefall, and a dangerous predator drives a vulnerable friend to suicide, Martyn's world unravels in the darkest and most darkly comic way possible. From the moment we read Chris's script, we knew we had something special - a film about the quiet ones, and what happens when they finally snap.

THE CAST
A Cast Built for the Genre

At the heart of the film is Thomas Turgoose, best known for his breakout role in This Is England and its spin-off series - whose gift for playing the bullied everyman gives Martyn's transformation into anti-hero a genuinely cathartic edge. He's supported by Kiran Landa (Line of Duty, Blindspot), Sacha Parkinson (Coronation Street), Hannah Traylen (Boiling Point), and Neil Bell (Dead Man's Shoes, Dune: Part One) - a cast who bring texture and grounded authenticity to every scene.

THE MUSIC
A Soundtrack That Hits Different

The film's music is one of its most distinctive assets. An exclusive new recording of OMD's iconic synth-pop anthem "Enola Gay" - featuring the vocals of Kim Wilde - was produced specifically for the film, giving the finale a powerful cultural anchor.

Sam Battle, better known as Look Mum No Computer, plays a pivotal role in the film itself. As Martyn's grip on reality begins to slip, he finds himself watching Sam's videos obsessively, until the screen stops feeling like a screen at all. Since the film wrapped, Sam has been nominated to represent the UK at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna with his synth-pop entry "Eins, Zwei, Drei" - a timely reminder of just how perfectly his world and this film's DNA align.
