Building Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere in Virtual Reality

Bringing a world as iconic as the Stormlight Archive to the screen required a deep commitment to world-building. Working closely with Brotherwise and Brandon's team, we translated the intricate lore of the Cosmere into a cinematic visual language. Our creative focus was on maintaining the epic scale of Roshar - the "shattered plains" and highstorms - ensuring that every frame felt like it had been pulled directly from the pages of the novels.

High-End Green Screen & Virtual Production

The technical backbone of this project was our specialized green screen production workflow. Shot entirely at our Manchester studio, the cast sat in a full green screen studio which allowed for total environmental control. Our art department worked in tandem with the digital team to ensure that the physical props and furniture used by the cast integrated perfectly with the virtual sets, creating a seamless interaction between the real and the digital.

Compositing and CGI Environments

Every environment seen in the final film was built and comped in-house. From the high storms of the Shattered Plains to the transitions between world locations, we used multi-layered compositing techniques to ensure the actors looked naturally embedded in their digital surroundings, rather than just "placed" on top of them. Beyond the technical execution, we focused on creating branded content that resonated deeply with the global TTRPG community. By combining "Actual Play" storytelling with commercial-quality cinematography, we helped launch the Stormlight RPG with a campaign that immerses viewers into the Cosmere universe. This project took complex, niche IP and turned it into social-ready shorts and long-form content that built genuine excitement and advocate-level engagement.
